The user experience and time required to access the modules depend on the quality of the network from which the users log in.
ENI Mediaplus uses Citrix Workspace HTML 5 technologies, which do not require the installation of software on the user’s device but allows access to remote machine in which the learner can pursue the training modules.
Citrix Workspace HTML 5 uses the HTTPS protocol (TCP 443) to secure connections.
The following table indicates the times to access the remote machines according to network latency:
Type of connection | Fibre optic | DSL/4G | Dedicated line/ slow 3G | Satellite |
Network latency during tests (*) (**) | 30 ms | 75 ms | 300 ms | 700 ms |
Remote machine access time | 42 seconds | 48 seconds | 72 seconds | 120 seconds |
(*) The network latency retained for the tests, takes into consideration the local network latency of a user connected via WiFi (circa 20ms) as well as the latency between the user’s router and ENI’s servers (France).
(**) The tests were performed with the WANem software, a WAN network emulator
The values indicated represent an average access time before launching the training module.
Module | Excel 2019 | Word 2019 | PowerPoint 2019 | Outlook 2019 | Office 365 |
Launch time | 7 seconds | 8.5 seconds | 12 seconds | 20 to 30 seconds according to the training topic | About 100 seconds |
Additional time, independent of the time necessary to boot the remote machine, is necessary to access the module selected in the access portal:
The expected specifications also depend on the network’s traffic.
The latency increases if the available bandwidth is saturated. (Downloading, playing of videos online). We recommend a bandwidth of 512 kb/s per user.
Users may be logged out if the network is overly saturated.
ENI recommends prioritising the HTTPS traffic towards vpx.mediapluspro.com and www.eni‑training.com and guaranteeing the recommended bandwidth per user.
