TECHNICAL PREREQUISITES
You find below our technical prerequisites for using our online courses in the best possible conditions.
The user logs in to their account from a web browser or from their LMS platform.
Depending on the type of online course chosen, the technologies used may differ.
- Office online courses use the MEDIAplus solution. By clicking on a module, the user is redirected to a virtual machine. The lesson is shown in the form of videos, then the operations are carried out directly within the studied app. There is no need to install the software on the user's workstation.
- IT online courses are delivered in the form of videos hosted on the Vimeo platform. The practical exercises offered are then completed by the learner on their own computer. They must therefore have the software on their workstation.
Note: For training centres or higher education institutions intending to assess several students at once, please warn us two weeks prior of the exam session dates and times at satisfaction.client@eni.fr
Software and permissions prerequisites
- If you are using a professional computer or one allocated by a training centre, please ensure that you provide them with this document. These computers are often protected by software that prevents our online courses or assessments from running smoothly.
- Some antivirus software (Kaspersky, Norton, McAffee, etc.) can lead to performance issues. If necessary, add an exception to their configuration.
- Your computer should be equipped with a recent operating system: Mac OS Yosemite (version 10.11 or later) or Windows 8 minimum. The device's screen should have a minimum resolution of 1280x760, default text size at 100% (96 pp).
- Smartphones and tablets: Using MEDIAplus on a smartphone or tablet is possible but not recommended. Due to the wide variety of devices available, the proper operation of all features cannot be guaranteed. For an optimal experience, we recommend using a computer with a screen, keyboard and mouse.
- If you have URL restrictions, please contact your IT department in order to whitelist www.eni-training.com, vpx.mediapluspro.com and wbs.mediapluspro.com.
- Our system also uses WebSockets to read the video lessons directly within the user's web browser rather than in the virtual machine. You can check that your browser supports WebSockets at https://websocketstest.com
- Our videos are hosted on Vimeo, which must also be whitelisted on your network in order to read them correctly.
Network and browser prerequisites
Our solutions can be disrupted by proxy servers, the inspection/filtering of network packets or strict network security configurations.
Our system functions with the HTTPS protocol, in which is encapsulated the ICA protocol to access the virtual machines used for our interactive online courses (MEDIAplus).
In order to perform an HTTPS raster analysis on the network, it is necessary to authorise the ICA protocol in the HTTPS raster or disable the raster analysis tools (e.g. Wireshark, Zcaler, Ethereal, etc.)
If such tools are in place, whitelist the following URL: https://vpx.mediapluspro.com.
Use an up-to-date browser: We advise you use Google Chrome, Firefox or Microsoft Edge.
With most web browsers, it is possible to check the version in use by accessing the Settings, the Help section and then the About section. According to the version installed, the browser may suggest an update.
Check for and, if necessary, deactivate add or pop-up blockers as they may prevent access to the virtual machine (AdBlock, Poper Blocker, AdGuard, ShelBlock…).
Where possible, use an ethernet connection. If using the WiFi, check the available bandwidth is at least of 512 Kbits/s per user. To perform a bandwidth test, use this link.
For training centres or higher education institutions, if using only the WiFi, avoid performing over 10 simultaneous student assessments. If your internet connection is sufficient, you may progressively increase the number of simultaneously logged in users (10, then 12, then 14, etc).
